Doors

Whether opening or closing, they grant access or bar the way, exposing or protecting. Whether announcing or remaining silent, they liberate or confine, reveal or mislead. Before them, questions always arise: how is on the other side? What lies there? What is happening beyond? They are passage from one room to another, from one stage of life to the next, from a hope to a plan. They open onto the different and the future. They introduce to a new world. They bring about a change of state. Through them, we spend our lives in transit until the ultimate crossing that constitutes the grand scheme underlying their entire imaginary world. Majestic or unassuming, ordinary or unique, resplendent or in ruins, they are never trivial. They are the great arbiters of our lives.
