It is the color and beauty of spring’s renewal like that of the summer harvest under a threatening sky. It is the expressive bursting forth of life here and now…
It is the expressive bursting forth of life here and now… It is the flow of which we are a part, yet which we do not control. Therefore, not only can we not ignore it, but any constraint we impose on it becomes detrimental. In turn, the beauty emanating from nature reminds us of this belonging, which transmits vitality, profound happiness, and well-being, making us feel connected to and beyond, in union with the universe, in an oceanic feeling. The landscape here can only inspire wonder.
Yet our society has developed on misunderstandings that have skewed a healthy development. As if we were deliberately creating ugliness to make human beings unhappy. The majority of our society’s production and services are so unnecessary that we must create a need for them, often harmful to human beings. Thus, making money becomes the sole necessity, which in turn, by enabling unbridled consumption, perpetuates a vicious cycle. Why behave like a captain trying to steer his ship against all odds towards an artificially fixed destination? Why go against ourselves? “I want to live with this field and for this field to live with me, for it to thrive in wind and sun and rain, and for us to be in harmony” (The Journey to Italy, J. Giono).
