The Colorado Plateau can be located in a rough triangle formed by Grand Junction, Colorado, the outskirts of Las Vegas, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
It is described by its immense geological phenomena over time periods as difficult for the mind to grasp as space distances. And minuscule on the surface of these temporal and spatial immensities are man and his cultures, from the first Native Americans to the ancient Puebloans, to the Indian tributes, to the conquest of the West and the Gold Rush.
Traveling to the Colorado Plateau is like traveling through the history of the United States, from the extraordinary formation of the land to the encounter with the American soul.
